CURING :
Curing is the chemical process employed in polymer chemistry and process of engineering and it makes toughening and Hardening of polymer material by cross-linking of polymer chains. And curing place an important role to develop strength & durability of concrete.curing takes place immediately after placing concrete and finishing and involves maintenance of desired moisture and temperature conditions.
SELF CURING :
Self curing is the type of curing with a special ability to reduce the autogenous shrinkage responsible for early stage of cracking it is useful generally for construction of high rise building, bridge etc.... Self curing concrete is the one type of morden concrete, Which cures by itself [moisture content] in it.
METHODS OF SELF CURING CONCRETE :
👉 : Uses of standard porous "LIGHT WEIGHT AGGREGATES"
👉 : Uses of POLY-ETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG) which reduces the evaporation of water from the surface of concrete and helps to water retention. PEG is available in Solid state & Liquid State.
TYPES OF SELF CURING CONCRETE :
Internal curing : 👉 use of light weight aggregates.
👉 Application of admixtures
External curing : 👉 Water curing.
👉 Membrane curing.
👉 Application of Heat.
👉 Miscellaneous.
MERITS :
Reduces the autogenously.
Reduces the permeability.
Increases the early age strength.
Higher performance.
Low maintenance.
Provide greater durability.
Protects the reinforcement steel.
Improved rheology.
Largely eliminates autogenously shrinkage.
DEMERITS :
Uneconomical and can't used for small projects.
The detailed study of chemicals involved in concrete is need to be done for a longtime.
